About

My artistic abilities were first noticed in grade school when I started sketching wildlife drawings with a pencil. As my art skills progressed, I began to create more and more from my imagination. By mixing different mediums together I came up with a style that seems to work for me.

I graduated from the Anamosa High school in 1985 and spent as many hours in the art room as I could possibly get away with. Having several others in my class that were very talented in art made it all the more fun to go on with and graduate from the Commercial Art program at Hawkeye Institute of Technology in Waterloo, Iowa.

Returning home from college I soon found employment at Albaugh Photography doing photo retouching, studio and lab work. Having worked full time for just over one year, I saved enough money to buy a motorcycle that took me on a five thousand mile trip throughout the Western U.S. I liked the Rocky Mountains so much I up and moved to Colorado. I found a job as a photographer at the Copper Mountain Ski Resort. The following years were consumed by so many fun days. Snowboarding, biking, snowmobiling were just a few of the outdoor activities that became the subject of many photos and miles of video.

After being distracted from my art for several years with so many outdoor adventures I slowed down and got going on my art work once again. This time using black ink and a small sable brush, two of the pieces I did are called “Weird World” and “Wild West”. It was during this time when I decided to part with the mountains and all my new friends to return home and pursue an idea of using old barn wood as a source for doing custom picture framing. So ever since returning home in 1996, It has been a very fun challenge building up my art and framing business.

A family owned acreage just outside of town has been a God-send for me. All the while using nothing but local farmyard salvage materials, I have been able to piece together a very magical work space that I like to call “The Barnyard”. By adding together people, art, food and live music, the Barnyard comes alive. I hope you enjoy viewing some of the photos taken here over the years. Thank you for checking out my website.
